The ARECA Board learned at the January 10th, 2005 Board Meeting that despite the efforts made by the Board, the hard work of Councillor Stintz, approval by both Community and City Councils (despite City Staff recommendation), the owner of the derelict homes at Orchard View and Duplex remain standing. It would appear that a potential sale of the buildings has fallen through and the current owner know does not want to invest in the cost of safety by demolishing the unsafe buildings. The site continues to be a dumping ground for many things, the buildings become more run-down and therefore more unsafe placing the community at even greater risk.
