St. James Bond United Church to Close
 

The ARECA Board met with representatives of St. James Bond United Church at the ARECA Directors meeting in January and learned that due to a declining congregation, St. James Bond is in amalgamation with Fairlawn United.

The congregation has voted to support the amalgamation and the congregation will move this June.

Why is this important?

This leaves the Church building redundant and they are in the process of determining how to deal with the surplus asset.  The feeling of the ARECA Board is the Church and the land it sits on will be up for sale.

Concerned community members are already letting their feelings be known about what might be developed on this large piece of land, especially given the new City Plan and the fact this site could be ripe for intensification.

Rest assured ARECA will stay on top of this.
