Eglinton Way – June 12th

A great day was had at the Eglinton Way’s Spring Festival on June 12th.

ARECA manned a table and distributed coloured pencils to those who dropped by the table and said hello. All felt that the street closure was a terrific success and made the day vastly better.  ARECA wishes to thank the Eglinton BIA for the space and to encourage street closures in the future for these events.

Environment Day June 19th

Unfortunately due to the change in location to the Jolly Miller Parking Lot ARECA did not have a presence at the event due to the location being outside our area.  We would encourage Councillor Stintz to hold her 2005 event in the North Toronto Arena parking lot once again.

Yonge-Eglinton Planning Review

Public Meeting – June 22nd

There was a very good turn out for the meeting held at the North Toronto Community Centre on June 22. The emphasis of the meeting was on the TTC lands at the southwest corner of Yonge-Eglinton.  The working group consisting City Staff, TTC staff, developers and representatives from Community Groups outlined how they envisioned the site being developed in the future.

Orchard View and Duplex derelict houses

ARECA continues to monitor this dangerous site and is working with Councillor Stintz to find a satisfactory solution.

Marshall McLuhan Catholic High School

ARECA requested that 53 Division increase police presence in the vicinity of Marshall McLuhan High School for end of year activities. In previous years there has been a certain amount of vandalism at end of year.

ARECA representatives continue to represent the area at meetings being held by the City regarding the New Toronto Official Plan, Land Use, Development Fees and other fundamental planning issues that are changing within the city.
