Improved Facilities for
Memorial Park?
At
the moment, there is nothing new to report
regarding this proposal. The TDSB never
received a formal proposal from the North
Toronto Soccer Club. North Toronto Soccer
still lists this as a Board Objective for 2009.

at Forest Hill Collegiate.
In September 2008, the
ARECA Board met with Trustee Howard Goodman and
the TDSB's Consultant Paul Addie to discuss
where the proposal stands. Trustee Goodman
informed ARECA a dedicated web site, under the
TDSB site has been established ...

ARECA understands there will be more public
meetings and that Trustee Goodman is very
interested to hear all sides of this issue so
that he can make the best decision when it comes
to the TDSB.

On May 27, 2008, a
meeting
was held at Forest Hill Collegiate hosted by
TDSB School Trustees Josh Matlow and Howard
Goodman and, City Councillor Karen Stintz.

The purpose of the meeting was to make the
community aware of the proposal being considered
by the TDSB, the City and the North Toronto
Soccer Club. Discussions had already been held
with Forest Hill Collegiate and North Prep.
There was considerable concern raised by
community members including:
* Parking
* Noise
* Safety/Security, particularly after-dark
* The "unsightliness" of the dome
* The environmental costs for heating and
lighing
* Garbage
* How it will be paid for
* Who will be allowed to use the proposed
facility and when
* Traffic Impacts
* Hours of operation
There was also support voiced for the proposal
which came primarily from the 2 schools and
those involved with soccer.

June 12, 2008 at Forest
